| Hi, we are Aernout and Anne-Miek van Citters, living in La Haye/The Hague in Holland and the owners of the first Dutch litter of Braque du Bourbonnais. I am sorry to having to write this in English for we speak French but to write French...... that is something different.....
In 2003 we bought our dog Ulotte in France. We were the Dutch who were in La Cavalerie chez M Guy Stéphane in 2004 as we wanted our dog to have the "l'inscripton définitive au L.O.F." before we had her pedigree transfered to the Dutch "Livre des Origines". Ulotte was confirmed by Mr Picot and we had a wonderful day in La Cavalerie because in Holland you don't run into so many BdB's in one place.
Ulotte and I participate in hunting dog competitions and she is doing very well (as could be expected from a BdB). Last September she was nr 1 of her competition level in a competition with all the 'usual' hunting dogs eg German pointers, epagneuls, labrador retrievers, golden retrievers etc. I had a lot of explaining to do because most people didn't know the breed. Because we are big fans of the breed we wanted to find a nice male to have the first dutch litter. Last summer we met Tenor and his owners and both Ulotte and we liked what we saw. Also very important to us was that the inbreed% of this match was almost 0. December 19, 2005 Ulotte gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies, 3 males and 4 females. No big spots on the body, no big spots covering two eyes, good coloring, but 6 longtails and 1 shorttail (who will go to Arjan & Rosanne). As you might have noticed in other messages on this forum, tail docking is not allowed in Holland. Well, so be it, as far as we are concerned there is more to a Bourbonnais than a tail alone, and I agree with Michaël that the standard of the Epagneuls Breton (as far as the tails go) would do the breed a lot of good for there must be quit a few BdB's who's tails are not naturally short. Michaël keep up the good work, you are the person who brings BdB lovers from all over the world together! |
