| Here are some pictures from opening day of duck season and another short duck hunt that I was on. This was on easy retrieve for Beau, all he had to do was swim.

This was a more difficult retrieve, do not only to the fact he didn't see the bird fall, but the area in which it landed. The vegetation you see is like little islands, the dog can't walk across it and he can't swim either. Some places it will not even hold his weight up. My friend told me that usually when they hunted there the birds had to be retrieved using waders or by pushing and pulling yourself through in a canoe with one foot in and the other pushing off the islands. He had never seen a dog do well there, even a Labrador owned by a friend of his, until that day. Beau was in there over two hours looking for the ducks. We moved to a different blind to try and shoot some geese, unfortunately none came into range, and the dog was still excited by all the honking of the geese, he had lots of energy and desire left after the hard retrieves . I was very pleased by his work that day.

Here he is posing nicely after a successful hunt because of his hard work. He lives to find and retrieve birds.

This is after a quick morning hunt.

Hopefully the leaves fall soon so that we can go grouse and woodcock hunting. It has been unseasonably warm and humid here lately, 29 Celsius tomorrow and humid when it should be about 15-18 Celcius. We are gettting rain now after none all summer and there are lots of mosquitoes in the woods, we have had no frost to kill them of yet. I will post some pictures from my hunts.
Could someone translate this please. Merci. |

| Translated.
Very impressive work from Beau. And I would add that I like his look too (nice head shape). This is a sire to use.
I remember a few year ago a owner who paid a lot of money to a "professional" handler to learn his Bourbonnais to retrieve ducks, to no avail. They concluded "Bourbonnais are not done for that". What a mistake. _________________ Braque du Bourbonnais |
