| The corn was just cut two days ago and I watched a large deer walk through the field yesterday looking for a doe to breed. A dozen ducks were circling but didn't land in the pond as I watched the buck. While walking down to check the pond for ducks this morning, two flew overhead and I shot one. This is the first duck retrieve for Rose. The snow started last night and the pond is freezing over.

| Nice picture. But this is a quite difficult weather for our short hair Bourbonnais, isn't it? Don't you use dog jackets like they do in north european countries (below is Themis dou Coudounie in Finland):

| | I don't use a vest yet, I do have one though. It is for water retrieves in cold weather. The dogs don't mind the cold, the two dogs broke through the ice in the pond and ran around like nothing happened. Maybe if they had to sit after being in the water, then they would feel the cold. It all depends on the dog. |
